Hi all,
Here's a piece that I've had for a while now but never shared. The jersey comes from the Avon Old Farms Boarding School baseball program in Avon, Connecticut. The jersey was sent to me in 2019. Working in the sports equipmrnt field myself, I know that teams often keep around old equipment ang uniforms from past teams and star players. I reached out asking if the school still had any of George's old jersey's as being able to afford any game used MLB items is out of the question. I recieved a request for my address and a few weeks later recieved a package containing this jersey. Upon close inspection of a few photos of George in a similar jersey it confirms that this indeed was a style he and his teammates wore during his time there, the only issue is that George is wearing #13 not #4. It seems that he switched to #4 towards the middle or end of his time at Avon. However, one photo I have found of George at bat and in mid swing appears to show the tip of the #4 on the rear of his jersey just visible as he twists his upper body. This leads me to believe it was a transition jersey or used during practice. Nonetheless it is an extrordinary piece from George's early baseball days. If anyone else has any photos of George from this time that might aid in nailing down the jersey, please feel free to share! Stay safe! Last edited by AstroJake09; 02-11-2021 at 08:47 AM. |

yours appears to be a undershirt/warm up top as opposed to a game jersey per se...He might even be wearing it underneath that picture of him wearing his #4 red game jersey

That very well may be what it is. I noticed that it looked like he was wearing it underneath the red jersey too, that makes a lot of sense. I also don’t see why he’d wear a #13 warmup underneath his #4 jersey, so it leads me to believe that’s what it is. That batting image in mid swing could also be a regular practice or pregame batting practice and honestly, with the lack of a crowd or kids in the dugout leads me to believe that’s where the image takes place.
