This closed a day or two ago at $220 — I thought it looked like a repro, though hard to tell in photos. A little trimmed for sure! The auction house defended it in a private note, and I became less sure that it was a repro.
Was anyone following this? I thought the half-tone printing looked too modern and the age-ing was suspect, but the black back looks real enough. And maybe the half-tone is just as modern-looking in the original, I have never handled a Mayo Cut Plug in person. https://www.auctionninja.com/past-to-present-ct/product/estate-fresh-1895-mayo-cut-plug-mike-griffin-3154.html |
