Default 1909 Type 1 NY Highlanders Sliding (Birdie Cree) Photo

FS - Type 1 sliding photo taken at Hilltop Park in 1909 during a game between the NY Highlanders and the St Louis Browns. Crazy thing is, the photo was ID'd and published by Baseball Magazine in 1911 as a photo depicting Otis Johnson sliding in a game at Bennett Park vs the Detroit Tigers. The action is definitely taking place at Hilltop Park, 1909, and the opponent is the Browns. The player sliding appears to be Birdie Cree, but that isn't 100%. I say it is though, as have others who have seen this photo. How the photo got all the way to publication so obviously misidentified...who knows! Regardless, this is an amazing in-game sliding photo with dirt flying, beautiful tones, etc. Early International New Service stamp on the reverse, along with George Michaels Collection and Christies/Baseball Magazine Archive stickers.

Condition is overall excellent. Small upper right corner chip.

Size is 6.5" x 8.5"

Partial page from the 1911 Baseball Magazine with the photo as published is included with sale!

Price $SOLD shipped (paypal preferred)

PM or email with interest.

Thx,
Ray
