Finally completed upgrading my 1970 set, which included getting complete poster, scratch-off and booklet sets. I've read that the posters were included with the "early" series, the scratch-offs with the "middle" series and the booklets with the "later" series, but can anyone parse this more specifically for me - specifically which inserts came from which series?
Hard to believe any were in the high series packs (although I know some were) because they're all still so relatively inexpensive. Last edited by deweyinthehall; 01-01-2021 at 07:03 PM. |

Thanks - good information and the sell sheet is a terrific piece - would love to see others from that era.
Those posters are a pain - too large for a single pocket sheet. Right now, I have them in standard 1-pockets with the far right edge folded back along the original crease. Best I could figure, but the continued wear on the crease concerns me. |

I have bought artist portfolio binders for my various Topps poster/pin up sets. The 69 team posters are huge. The binders come in different sizes and display the pieces really well with no folding

I bought my first cards in the spring of 1970. I'll never forget peeling open that first pack, and unfolding a poster of Ollie Brown. I seem to recall the posters disappeared after the second series. In California, we never saw anything past the 4th series that summer. The 2nd series was around only briefly. The 3rd and 4th series cards were everywhere, along with those scratch-offs. My family spent a month in Michigan that summer, where the 5th and 6th series were available, and we saw the comic books for the first time. It was August in upper Michigan, and the 1970 Topps Super cards were available there, too. I went from having no cards of Willie Mays to having two of them, which was a really big deal at the time. I can still picture peeling back the wrapper on that Topps Super pack and seeing Willie smiling back at me. Later, in December, the 7th series cards showed up in a vending machine in California, which I poured many coins into to get the elusive Johnny Bench ...

I bought some slightly oversized mylars that just fit the 1970 posters and fit into binders. BCEMylar.com product #63B.
