Most collectors know about the 1991 Sotheby’s sale of the Copeland Collection, but I recently discovered that Sotheby’s also had a few other sales in the early-mid 1990s of “important sports memorabilia and cards”, much of which appeared to be great baseball items. Does anyone have any background on these sales? Did anyone participate?

and of course they did the Halper collection auction (Sept 1999) which had amazing stuff, even if some of the jerseys and memorabilia was later determined to be fake. I got some great items from that sale, like a t227 partial set with a Cobb and a large t200 Washington Senators premium, among others.
