Hi,
I am new T206 collector, I just purchased my first 4 cards, and plan to collect at least a subset of the 524. I have read "Inside T206", and scoured many of the recommended websites. Are there any must-have books? I would appreciate anyone's thought on these: 524 T206 images: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1 The Players and Their Stories: https://www.amazon.com/T206-Collecti...sr=1-8-catcorr Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards, Volume 1: https://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-.../dp/9998230330 |

I own the second two and consider them essential to my library.
I like the stories of the players on the t206 cards. Recommend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi, there a number of books/publications that all good, some of which have been cited
While at the National, I walked thru the Heritage Auctions booth and picked up a free, short publication they made available to anyone, which they produced entitled "Experts Guide to Collecting the T206 Set." This was produced to help with their auction of David Hall's fabulous T206 collection. I believe several T206 experts, who are members of this forum, contributed to this publication. I found this publication to be very good and I refer to it at times. Not sure if it available on their website or not. |

Hi,
If interested in T206 cards and other 1910 era tobacco issues, instead of Volume 1 of the Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards you will want to pick up Volume 3, which has a nice detailed write up of the T206 set, as well as other sets with the ACC (American Card Catalog) designation of 'T'. Better yet, a combined Volume 1 through 3 was issued, and then you will have a world of vintage bb card info (1st volume is 19th century cards, 2nd is 'E' cards, which are early candy and gum issues, 3rd the 20th century tobacco sets) at your fingertips. Thank you. One of the 4 cards I started with the one in the middle... thought it would be a fitting handle as I begin my journey! It's a terrific name, as are many others from this era.

I’ve read “the players and their stories” and it’s a great encyclopedia. There’s a picture of every card in the set, along with a small bio on every player. Highly recommended.

It’s not a “book”, but Scot Reader’s “Inside T206” is my favorite treatise on the set itself

I recommend The Glory of Their Times to anyone who wants to learn about baseball's place in American culture. It is must reading for collecting t206's. I have also enjoyed SABR's Deadball Stars of the National League and its companion, Deaball Stars of the American League. These sorts of books tell you who was who, and who wasn't.

I highly recommend a book that is seldom talked about...." The Year They Called Off the WORLD SERIES "....by Benton Stark.
It's an excellent, well-written story of the 1904 BaseBall season. I won't go into detail, that's left for you to read. The season's ending is classic. Plus what is very interesting, as you read this book, you will feel most of the familiar ballplayers in the T206 set come alive in your imagination. TED Z T206 Reference . |

Deadball Stars of the National League & Deadball Stars of the American League. 2 books. Loaded with in depth bio's of many of the players from the deadball era. The write ups almost give you a feel for being there as you learn about each player.
