Really nice piece. I would HATE to ship it....I've never been good at shipping bulky, huge items like that.

Yah always a little tricky, but error on the side of bubble-wrapping the crap of it.

First put a heavy non-bendable piece of cardboard (or 2) over the glass. Then let the bubble wrapping begin.

Then pack it into styrafoam peanuts.

Then cross your fingers.

I bought a similar piece from a board member lately and he wrapped it great . . and still the glass was shattered. Be careful indeed.

Any glass framed piece I've ever bought has come with an almost seran wrap plastic smoothly stuck to the glass. I've never had an issue. I would imagine masking tape would offer the same protection if covering the entire glass surface. Purpose is to keep the glass from sliding around and potentially damaging the piece itself if the glass does get broke.

Don't you be putting the hex on me.

Yah who knows with these things, ya just hope you don't get the handler who is having a bad day or is an idiot.

I find USPS is much better then UPS for glass items as UPS tosses the boxes and throws a heavy box on a non-heavy box. They are good with getting non-fragile pieces, but never again with anything glass.

Learned the hard way.

I also think that is due to USPS not doing the big heavy items like UPS, USPS is more letters and small packages. UPS ships EVERYTHING. And they have to be quick so very little care is used.

So my 2 cents, you want something there quick and its not breakable UPS.....something breakable, go USPS. You don't have to worry about your package going threw the assembly lines and then tossed into a truck with someones Patio Grill or Peloton Bike or a weight set.

Just got word from the buyer, it arrived in tact.

Pheeeeeeew!!!!

Hate to be the reason a 100 year old piece was ruined because of me or the shipper.

Again all 3 main shippers have their issues, but if you ship glass ALWAYS go USPS over UPS/FedEx. That and package securely as others have mentioned as well. OVER pack!
