Featuring 608 lots from this popular set, each card is presented individually and graded by either PSA or SGC. All lots open at $5.

Is it me or some prices on these T206s are already above market? Maybe it the rare backs or just the gorgous colors- Nice cards.
For me it certainly is. I am shot out of the water on my all my max bids.
As someone trying to grab some nice specimens, i am shell-shock, flabergasted, and simply sharded in my draws.

Don't be sharded but some of the prices do look like they are strong. Some have a little ways to go....Good luck to all.

The extra 20% “buyers fee” also seems a bit steep. Make some bids, we’ll see if they hold up!

How is this steep? Standard operating procedure with auction houses.

Sorry still a newbie outside of Ebay and small shows. Guess my point was if the actual prices themselves are seeming to run high factoring in the extra 20% for me is tough. Keep forgetting about that when I’m looking at bids to keep in mind as total out of pocket.

Matt, and now you need to add state tax in most cases (but some auction houses (AHs) still don’t charge state tax).

I am in Maryland. Our sales tax rate is 6%. So, I multiply the bid by 1.26 in order to determine the all-in price (not including shipping and insurance, which can range from nothing to criminal). Bottom line, when bidding with an AH, you need to multiply your bid by at least 1.2, and that’s the cost if you win.

I buy almost exclusively from AHs, including REA who I think is the best of all. And in my experience, bidders and final prices/high bids account for the buyer’s premium. Thus, a card worth $1200 will normally close on a high bid of $1000 (or maybe now $950 with state tax). This will become second nature in no time, and then you can start debating which AH’s closing procedure is best/worst...

Thank you for the tips, definitely a new venture for me but seems much more direct to find what I like than the searches on EBay and siifting through all the yeah-right buy it now prices. The cards also actually do seem nicer even compared to similar grades. I suppose these are the main drawls to auction houses, you feel like there’s a little more trust to what you are getting?

I no longer collect cards but do buy records. You think American BPs are high? The leading English record auction house charges a staggering 28.2%!

I guess you are the one to ask...Why is the signed album of Disraeli Gears going for so much tonight on HA. Clapton is still here to sign, and the other 2 lived a long time. I noticed the record is in MONO, which I learned actually sounds better than stereo.

I don't know too much about classic rock as I mainly concentrate on punk/brit-pop, etc. However, just like cards it really doesn't have much to do with sound or even appearance. As "rookie" cards are the most appealing, the first pressing of a record is always most desirable (regardless of sound). That Cream LP that is Mono sound is "first pressing" while the subsequent re-releases are not.

I buy and sell all over the place. On Ebay, with Auction houses, at shows, etc. always something to be had or sold in any of them. With Ebay being so buyer friendly, not huge risk there either (except as a seller).

I did the same. Too old to stay up I guess. I did end up with two southern leaguers and four commons. I was really in on the southern leaguers. I did lose three around midnight.

From what i read---If the total was under $500, then you could use Paypal.
