Here is the 3rd installment of your favorite Brooks Robinson card poll covering 1971-1978. So far the 1957 and the 1967 have been chosen by large margins. I think this next grouping will be very interesting. Personally I like all of these cards but my favorite would be the 1975. The all-star symbol, colors and Brooks in his short bill helmet make it a great looking card. The 72 isn’t too shabby either and the 73 is a nice shot of Brooks in a rare fielding pose. I have a soft spot for the 78 as this was my first Brooks card I got as a kid from a pack. Mark will be posting picture when convenient for him. Thanks again for the participation.

Just an FYI; most of the cards I'm posting are not mine.

This seemed more difficult than the others. There are several Brooks cards I liked in this era. I could have made a case for most of these actually.
In the end, I went with the '76. I do wish the shadow wasn't as low on his face but even with that, it captures (for me, at least) his persona. He's playing catch and grinning with that crooked smile of his.

This is the time frame that pulled me in to collecting Robinson cards. I had a few personal favorites outside of the Dodgers and they were not always the best players or the most expensive to be later (future me regrets, but oh well).
I was liking just about all of the Robinson cards in this time frame, but those action shots will always win me over. 1973. The 75 is a great design and that AS banner is a bonus, but I just don't like the image as much as the clean shot of him in the field. The first regular card to show this of the eventual 16 time gold glove winner it seems, based on his older cards.

The playfully awesome 1976 card, without a doubt.

I really struggle with this one. I really like all these cards, but the 1971, 1973, 1975 and the 1978 being his last playing day Topps card. Also, I like the 1972 design, but they used an average photo in my book.
I ultimately chose the 1971. Cool black borders and just love the setup of the 1971 card. I personally like the photo used as well... If it was a different day I'd probably pick a different favorite. |

It's funny how the 1977 and 1978 shots were seemingly taken at the exact same moment...as if the photog set up two separate cameras and went *click* simultaneously.

In general, I'm not much for the '75 set. But I do like Brooksie's card - the colors, the AS logo - it all just comes together in a nice card.
The '71 is a close second, but it gets a downgrade for what looks like a swing and miss or foul ball.

Agree. I chose the 1976 for a couple reasons, I like the layout, color and pose and it's my birthyear set so I'm a little partial.
