Default Smoky Joe Wood pitching advice and autograph

In the early 1980s I had some communications with Smoky Joe Wood and his son, Robert. I'd like to offer the following 2 lots. Auctions close Wednesday, January 8 at 10 pm CST. If there are bids within the last 5 minutes on either lot, there will be a 5 minute extension for that one. Minimum bid is $20.00 on Lot 1, $5.00 on Lot 2. Postage is $2.00. Checks or PayPal F & F. Thanks for looking.

Lot 1: In January, 1983, I asked Smoky Joe Wood for some advice. My question to him was this: I am a catcher on a local town team. When there's a runner on first base who looks like he's going to try to steal, I'm tempted to call for a fastball, high and outside. But I don't know if that is fair to my pitcher, since that's an easier pitch for the batter to hit than a low and away breaking ball. Should I call for that fastball to give me a better chance at nailing the runner, or call the best pitch to get the batter out?

Smoky Joe Wood replied with this answer, in his own hand: You keep thinking for yourself and you will be O.K. High and outside is the place to pitch for. Very Truly Joe Wood

This lot includes Joe Wood's note and autograph, 2 letters and a pricelist from son Robert Wood, and a photo set consisting of a Joe Wood Red Sox stat card, Joe pitching, Joe and Walter, Joe and Matty, and the Addie Joss benefit all star team (photos all have tape residue on back.)
