Fake World Series Pins

I'm no expert, but this Germany seller has had these going now for awhile and seems to have a never ending supply.

I know almost nothing about pins but if those are fake (and I believe you, Paul) then that really bites. Collectors will get fooled by these.

Paul is correct he has been selling them for years . Aged to look old. He had started with I believe 1962 Giants pins back about 6-7 years ago.. And many were sold ,have now filtered down over the years thru ebay. Much worse than Pinzsplus on ebay as these look good and have a lot of correct sizing...

If I collected pins I would be very unhappy with sellers selling those phonies. Hopefully Karma takes care of them...

If any potential buyer does any research at all (or even just google for images of the pins), they will clearly see these barely resemble the real deal. Only fools will think these are genuine.

I have contacted ebay about these as well as contacted the seller yet nothing has been done. I have sent ebay pics of the genuine pins as well as these knock-offs and cannot get them to either clearly mark them as reproductions and/or get them eliminated from ebay altogether.

The top pin: 1911 Philadelphia Athletics WS Press Pin - First WS Press Pin Ever Issued. Sold for over $53K in 2013. Buying this pin at $80 is a "real bargain"

Just another reason to say screw this hobby. Unfortunately, karma doesn't always catch up to people. It'd be nice to just put all these a-holes in a room together and let them beat each other down. What might be unfortunate is that the shady guy from the south side would probably put together his dream team of a-holes and really screw this hobby up worse than it already is...

I have recently come across these pins given to me for an auction. I suspect them to be fake, trying to verify them and where they came from. If they are fake I would recommend them be thrown in the garbage. Thanks for any info. Kind of new at this hope the pics show

Yes these appear to be reproductions that have been mostly circulated and sold from some European ebay users. I have seen Germany as the origin for similar pins but can't say if they are definitely from the same person.

The pin attachment is a dead giveaway. The fakers use a oval metal piece with hole in middle that attaches the the pin to the badge. This identical attachment has been used for years on fAke radio and cereal premium badges

I'm still betting it does. When I first started going to card shows as a kid in the early 1970s, I learned very quickly — and sometimes the hard way — that there were shady people in the hobby. They just couldn't hide behind an internet handle back in those days. Regardless whether it's true, the belief that karma is real has helped keep me sane all these years.

...that someone would go to this much trouble to make and sell fake stuff like this. Wonder if it's paying off. I guess a lot of people haven't learned--or won't pay attention to--the old lesson, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

No question these are aged to look old, many of these pins are very hard to find - and any pre-1930 pins do not come around often, I noticed the 1915 Red Sox pin the other night right away - have not seen an original in at least 20 years.

If my memory serves me correctly, fake press pins have been a problem in the hobby for decades. Long before the advent of the internet.
