Long time collector, but new to this site. I have been fascinated with the prices realized by all the high number commons from the 1960's Topps sets. There is a thread on here with an "unofficial" price guide for 1967 Topps. Has there been other guides posted on the site for the 1961, 1962, 1965 or 1967 Topps sets. Thank you in advance for any help any of the other collectors on here.

Most of them you can find pricing for raw by searching sold values on eBay or looking for the currently for sale listings on COMC to get "retail" pricing. If you're talking graded, they trade regularly enough to look up on PSA's Auction Prices Realized site.

I would agree that the most realistic price guide you are going to find is eBay sold listings.
High numbers are a strange bird, and as I have gotten older fascinate me because as a kid (I didn’t start collecting until ‘86) I never had to deal with that phenomenon. I think it’s interesting that some high numbers, even from a set notorious for them like ‘67 Topps - seem to be more plentiful than once thought, and even on eBay in high grade can be had for a relative bargain - while others appear to have been justifiably rare then and still are, and continue to command premiums today. I guess it’s just the market continuing to slowly evolve and allocate more efficiently. A good reason likely I will never complete a ‘67 set - thanks for Seaver and Carew there, Topps... I agree eBay sold listings are great for pricing, but some of the cards are all over the place in the same grade. I recently finished up the 1967 Hi# Series and the guide that was listed on here a few years back was very helpful and I just didn't know if someone tried to do the same with any of the other hi# runs from other years. Might have to start compiling some myself!!

I did do the same thing for '66. My opinion is the other years don't have the same variance in values of the "common" high numbers. For the most part, every "common" high number from 59, 60, 61, 62 (SPs are a little more valuable, but well documented), 63 (#496 is an outlier) are all about the same. '64, '65, and '68-'72 are all much more available and cheaper so no analysis is necessary. For what it's worth, here's my '66 "unofficial" price guide. I didn't spend as much time on it an haven't really kept track of it like I did '67 so it may not be as accurate, but it's a start. 524 Giants RC 12 525 Bell 17 526 Twins TC 35 527 Navarro 10 528 Gonder 15 529 White Sox RC 6 530 Roberts 15 531 Cunningham 4 532 Monteagudo 14 533 Adair 6 534 Mets RC 8 535 Davis 12 536 Egan 4 537 Franks 5 538 Allen 12 539 Astros RC 12 540 McLain 32 541 Oliver 12 542 Smith 5 543 Craig 12 544 Cardinals RC 40 545 Green 12 546 Siebler 10 547 Clarke 35 548 Kroll 10 549 RC 4 550 McCovey 30 551 Purkey 10 552 Tebbetts 12 553 RC 10 554 Northrup 12 555 Perranoski 25 556 Queen 20 557 Mantilla 10 558 Red Sox RC 13 559 Pena 15 560 Horlen 7 561 Coleman 45 562 Snyder 18 563 Twins RC 12 564 Chance 12 565 Piersall 15 566 Cuellar 12 567 Howser 12 568 RC 5 569 McFarlane 15 570 Mahaffey 18 571 Roberts 8 572 Priddy 4 573 Griffith 4 574 Mets RC 10 575 Wilson 4 576 Nicholson 12 577 Lamabe 10 578 Olivo 12 579 Orioles RC 12 580 Williams 20 581 Martinez 5 582 Roggenburk 5 583 Tigers TC 40 584 Yankees RC 8 585 Taylor 9 586 Raymond 13 587 Bertell 5 588 A's RC 9 589 Klimchock 18 590 Skowron 15 591 RC 100 592 Rodgers 5 593 Camilli 10 594 Salmon 5 595 Jackson 5 596 Astros RC 15 597 Sullivan 5 598 Perry 60 |
