Look at 2/3/16 thread in autograph forum by dgo71. It goes over a list of players that only could have signed b&w plaques and a list of players that could have signed both b&w and gold plaques. Hope this helps.

Here is the list to make it easier. I've used this list for years and add to it as guys are inducted. There are currently 183 possible gold plaques. This list doesn't include George Weiss, even though there is a fascinating story about the one possible legitimate Weiss plaque that does exist. Paul Waner and Bill McKechnie were both alive for and attended their inductions in 1965, but it's widely believed their gold plaques were not available to the public until after their deaths later that same year.

Yes. Died in 1972. Only had a few years to sign the gold.
