Default 1921/22 Clark’s Bread 7-Cards

I found what I think might be some rare cards in my collection today. I believe these are form the 1921/22 Clark’s Bread set. I have John McGraw, Red Faber, Duffy Lewis, Charlie Deal, Pep Young, George Dauss, and E.C. Rice.

Looking for recommendations on next steps to verify authenticity and assess value. See attached pictures. Looking forward to your feedback.

Welcome to Net54.

Yes, Clark's Bread cards are very scarce or rare, depending on how one defines these terms. To verify authenticity, I suggest you submit them to one of the major card grading companies - either PSA (the largest) or SGC (my personal choice). Or, you could ask a collector or dealer who is very knowledgeable about the E121 and W575-1 issues for an opinion. Here's the link to a 2017 Net54 thread re the Clark's Bread cards: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?p=1718341

It's difficult to put a value on such scarce cards. Actually, their scarcity tends to work against their value because they are too scarce for anyone to attempt to collect a set of them. This leaves only type-card collectors and specific-player collectors to be interested in them. You can check VCP (Vintage Card Prices) for past sales info - VCP is a subscription service, and I think one can purchase a 1 day subscription for for a relatively low cost. Here are the links to two past sales:

I finally got these Clark's Bread cards back from PSA. As suspected, they are indeed the real deal!

Here are the grades that each card received:
  • Sam Rice PSA Grade 3
  • John McGraw PSA Grade 2
  • Red Faber PSA Grade 2
  • George Dauss FSA Grade 3
  • Charlie Deal PSA Grade 3
  • Pep Young PSA Grade 2
