Just an alert on this 1953 Bowman #44 Bauer/Mantle/Berra card:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Bowman...0&LH_Auction=1 I won this card from the seller Thomaroma52 three weeks ago in an eBay auction. I paid for the card within 6 hours of the auction closing. Two days later I received an email from the seller stating that he had accidentally double listed the card and it was already sold. When asked where the other listing was the seller stated that he did not have to tell me that information. Later the seller emailed me again and admitted he did have the card but he was cancelling the sale because the purchase price was below what he bought the card for and he was "unwilling to take a loss on the card." Just wanted to make the community aware. Bid with full knowledge. Per board rules, my name is Jim McKinley (eBay id: jimmckinley)

That is how they work. Every time I win an auction for a very low price the item will ship without tracking and then never arrive. The seller will then apologize and refund my low auction price.
I would venture to say that items shipped without tracking generally arrive about 30% of the time. This is particularly astonishing as all other mail arrives at near 100%. Last edited by sfh24; 12-13-2018 at 07:29 PM. |

He paid $317 for the card. Just because of the way he listed the card I wouldn't bid.

Open a case with eBay and show them what he told you. You may never get the card, but they should at least suspend him for that. Blatantly against their rules.

I appreciate all of the comments.
I did open a case with eBay and did get my money back. When I saw that he relisted the card, I called eBay back and explained the situation. The eBay rep I spoke with was very nice. We will see what happens next. In the meantime, I just wanted to warn everyone so they don't have to go through the hassle of buying something and then having to get your money back on the item.

Just a word to the wise, but never buy from someone with 97-something % feedback. At a minumum that means they have multiple negatives. For virtually anything you could want to purchase on eBay, I'll guarantee you can find the same thing elsewhere from a seller with better feedback.

I avoid them if they are below 99%. I use caution if the are below 99.5. You can usually expect that there is "fire to the smoke" if multiple people are having the same experience.
