Hi all,
This is a ball supposedly used in the May 17, 1962 game which pitted the espansion Colt 45's against the tenured Dodgers at brand new Dodger Stadium. The seller says that their Grandfather caught the ball at the game. The ball is inscribed by the gentleman with the date, teams and score. This game is also historic due to the fact that it was the first extra inning game in Dodger Stadium history. The Dodgers beat the Colt 45's by a score of 5 to 4. The ball is avalible for a very decent price and I don't see why someone would fake a ball from a random game for less than $20 dollars. Does anyone else have any thoughts? Some of the writtingon the ball is hard to read, so there may be something else pertaining to the history of the ball. Thanks! Last edited by AstroJake09; 07-13-2019 at 03:02 PM. |

What are the “manufacturers markings” on the ball?

It looks to be a 1962 national league ball. Its pretty beat up but you can make out the ending of league, pres and the signauture of Warren Giles. Again its pretty beat up but its history nonetheless if its real.

Looks like it was played with quite a bit in "The Sandlot" after any possible official play. Doubt there's any way to know for sure about the story but it does look like the writing was applied quite a while ago.

I can get it for $16.49. Would it be worth it?
