I am very happy! For some reason this card has always stood out to me as a great piece of baseball card art.
Could anyone add please any thoughts (opinions) on the card? ![]() |

My only thought or opinion is that I agree. It’s a great image and card. Very underrated.
Nice pickup. |

My thoughts...
You now need to find and buy a matching sweater, along with an old school pipe. Too fitting. Great card, beautiful image.

Great card! Lots of "movement" in that pose.

If you seriously want a replica sweater from that era, Mitchell and Ness in Philadelphia makes them. I have a replica 1908 Cubs sweater that I bought from them 20 years ago.

One of my favorite cards in the set. But not sure why his hand is already coming off of the bat??

I think he's hitting infield practice(or outfield)...he just threw the ball up with one hand and now hes reaching for the bat with that hand to smack a grounder to the shortstop or hit a fly ball to the leftfielder

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing.

That is one nice T206. Great image, rich color and the right kind of wear.

Which back did your Duffy come with? He was an "old hand" by 1909.

Piedmont "The cigarette of quality"
Was this Duffy's final produced card? Last edited by Chuck9788; 08-28-2018 at 12:47 PM. |

In way -- yes. Duffy is from the last (i.e. final) print group (Group 4 / 460 only). His only Piedmont is the 350/460, Factory 25 (no Fact. 42). |

One of my favorite poses in the set, and a great player who is overlooked and marginalized by sabrmetrics, I think. Very cool card
What's the story with Duffy being in the set with Chicago Amer.? He last played in the majors for the Phillies in 1906, and spent 1907 and 1908 with Providence of the Eastern Association as player manager (and still hit .330). The 460 series was issued in 1911. Was Duffy trying to make a comeback and failed? EDIT: Ah, he was the manager of the White Sox. I always had his card checklisted as a player card, not as a manager. Ah, just saw post #14. Is it because he was out of league in 1909-10 and manager in 1911? Last edited by Rhotchkiss; 08-28-2018 at 07:02 PM. |

I have always liked this card because of the sweater depicted, and now it is cool to see that sweater in action in the photo that was shared (undoubtedly it was a chilly spring day).

Just noticed something neat about the card...the blue band on the sweater's wrist lines up perfectly with the blue 'button' band running from the neck of the sweater to the waist. My guess is the artist rearranged his depiction of the original photo it was based upon just to make things nice and aesthetically pleasing.

That's great... I purchased the exact same card in PSA 4.5 this week with my 15% eBay coupon. I'm replacing a beat up T205 (raw) Duffy.

Sweet Card! I love his sweater. The subject has a bit of history that goes with him too, I guess teehee! As an OLD psa slab IMO that card would grade 4 max maybe 3.5 if broken out and resubbed raw. Just my humble viewpoint from ….
