To all the T206 collector. I recently discovered a printing irregularity on the T206 Harry Krause, pitching version with a Piedmont 350 back. I purchased 2 different Harry Krause (pitching) cards from two different Sellers within the past month. I noticed that each had a unique printing irregularity on the "T" in Piedmont. I have viewed 30 or so Harry Krause (pitching version) cards with the Piedmont 350 back which are for sale and those recently purchased and I have not be able to find another card with the same printing irregularity. If anyone has the card with the same marking it would be interesting to know. Thanks.

A new T206 error? Several years ago this would have been holy grail news.

I could not agree more with Leon’s assessment. The “irregularity” is a plate imperfection causing the ink to smear. While interesting, it’s nothing more than an example of the pitfalls of early 20c printing.
Cheers, Mike

Thank you Leon and Mike for your responses and expertise. It was just strange to me that this marking was on the back of two cards that I purchased last month and I haven't been able to find any others with similar markings. Thanks again.

Hi Scott,
I did a quick check and found several other Krause (pitching) PD350's with the same flaw, here are a few of them. Krause 1.jpgKrause 2.jpg Krause 3.jpgKrause 4.jpg In my experience from researching print group 2 back flaws like this you will generally find these flaws in about a 1 in 20-25 sales range. It's also likely that this exact flaw can be found on one or two other print group 2 subjects. Here's a similar flaw that is found on three different print group 2 subjects. Thanks for pointing this print flaw out Scott! Like Pat said, every new print flaw we find gets us a little closer to understanding the way these cards were printed.
