"I had it checked out at a local reputable sports card shop and the owner looked at it very carefully and said it does look and show all of the signs of being authentic, but as it has not professionally graded yet, he didn't want to comment and say they are 100% for sure. I myself am not a card expert nor claim to be and do not want to be misleading in anyway, as why I had it checked out on my own so I am going to list it as a reprint to be on the safe side and please refer to the photos for the exact condition of the card."

And as soon as someone buys this one he'll have another (counterfeit) for sale - check out his completed sales...

Checking the seller's completed listings (as Jim suggested) is a real eye opener.
So far this year, goldenflames has sold 17 cards for a total of $4,807.71, an average of $282.81. These cards include 2 1951 Bowman Mantles, 6 1952 Topps Mantles, 3 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente, 3 1916 Ruth, a 1909 Cobb, and a 1924 Cobb, and a 1948 Leaf Musial. I checked a few of the completed auctions and each had the same estate find - reputable dealer etc. dialog that the current auction has. |

Jesus - look at this among the seller's feedback:
Fast as promised/hoping its the real deal. Seller gave full disclosure on item. k***b 1909 T-206 Ty Cobb - "Ty Cobb" Back (#182791601925) US $338.00 Do people really think ungraded Ty Cobb with Ty Cobb backs are lottery tickets? I have no sympathy for these folks because the guy bidding $338 knows if it's "the real deal" then he just absolutely fleeced the unwitting seller out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Not a bad way to supplement your income. 10-12 thousand extra dollars a year. Rationalize your scummy behavior by telling them you listed it as a reprint. Of course you have to have no ethical sense whatsoever.

If you can't tell in person, you need a new line of work. Not that I believe any actual card shop ever looked at it in any way. |

They can only bid one increment over the underbidder. I've had a few things that I bid near retail on that I got a bargain because nobody else bid. I'm really not sure how that's fleecing anyone, I bid big within the rules, nobody else did, so I got a great deal. Now someone gets them to end early with some lowball offer that's different. But somehow people see that as OK, even when it's against the rules. |

What? Do you really not think that estate had 5 other Mantle rookie cards (previous sales)?

Here we have a guy who thinks he found a $100,000 card on ebay for less than $1,000 at auction. Really? On a Ty Cobb card? That guy has no clue as to how many people passed on that card immediately because it is an obvious fake. It's the same thing with anyone who bids on ungraded T206 Wagners on ebay. They are never real. "But what if?" Nope. There is no "what if" with respect to ungraded Wagners. Ever. Stop looking. And even if "what if" then you won't be the only one to find it. You just won't. And it will get bid into the stratosphere. You can start bidding on that ungraded Wagner when it hits $10,000 from a legitimate seller with legitimate bidders involved. "But my cousin found a ruby slipper on ebay for a nickel and it was worth $1,000." Congratulations to your cousin. Not happening on a T206 Wagner. Or a Ty Cobb/Ty Cobb. Just please stop.

All the cards he sold have pretty much the same rounding in all 4 corners. Lmao
This guy is a joke and imo it's not his fault people are not educated enough to know better before giving away their money.
