It's a box of matches from my hometown.
The image sure looks like Teddy ballgame to me. Last edited by darkhorse9; 02-28-2018 at 02:43 PM. |

It does look like it is supposed to Ted Williams from the pose.
It looks more like his 60 Fleer than the 61 Fleer card. |

looks like Ted to me Mark. If the price is right these are the exact type of items for a "small fry" like me to pick up, The Big Boys at an affordable number. Cool item sir.

I’ve always seen this listed as it shows Ted Williams while another in the set shows Frank Gifford. The set is like 6 or so if I remember correctly and come inside a larger box which shows artwork nothing like the ones on the inside. I have an uncut sheet without the striker applied, a box with a complete set plus and a box with nothing but Ted Williams. And I’ve sold many sets on eBay and I always list them as Ted Williams.

I was trying to remember off the top of my head. I knew it was the card that the sides were cropped and it was white borders. Thanks for the clarification

It has long been acknowledged as Ted Williams. Definitely Ted
![]() FWIW a similar image appears on packages of Champ prophylactics.

![]() Actually, you meant the 1960 fleer. Worth noting since that was his last card as an active player. I see that Ben beat me to the correction, but anyway... here's the 1960 followed by the 1961: 1960 fleer TED.jpg 1961 fleer TED.jpg

Definitely Ted--absolutely his swing and build (although modeled after same in his earlier, rather than later years)!
