After about three years I have finally finished the 1945-6 Caramelo deportivio Cuban card set ( I did cheat a bit in that I own a 1946-7 Martin Dihigo which is actually a much more rare card with the same photo and I have not been able to justify paying 400 for the 45-6 version- also I am not counting the short print Reyes as part of the set )
Put the cards back in the album via photo corners and an archival scrapbook album. To me the cards in the album look amazing - all cards should have such a mounting option. It just gives a better feel for the time and world in which the cards were issued |

Thanks for the kind comments
Seeing the cards in album form really makes you realize how strong some of these teams were Mariano for example has two hall of famers - Dandridge and Brown both near their primes - another who will eventually be in Minoso - and a fourth Salazar who probably will not make but could make a case and is in the halls of Mexico Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Add Sandy Consugra who went 16-3 in the majors in 54 and Estrelalla who probably have been a star if he was given a chance with a number of negro league stars like Mcdanials and Serrel and minor league red Adams ( who won almost 200 games in the minors ) and you have a team that could have competed well in the majors ( in the war years they might have won the pennant) in fact take a look at the roster for the 1944 browns and tell me who would have had a better seasin Last edited by Jason19th; 01-07-2018 at 12:15 PM. |
