I'm curious to know more about these if anyone knows more. It sounds like they are the model used to create the bats for each player? My main question, is what is the relationship to this and the player. Since it was the template does that suggest that the player had received, held, or possibly swung the bat to ensure it was to specifications to make their batch?
Thanks in advance!!! |

I don't know the answer, for sure, but it seems a player would have to hold and swing the bat to have it made to his specs. So one of those template bats would be held by the player. That said, maybe there is some other process?

Typically lathe bats are copies (templates) that are turned using a player's game used bat that was returned to the factory and side written with grease pencil.
When the player requests bats of that same model, the lathe bat is used as a guide and new bats are turned off of those specifications.
