How depressing is that. I've scoped out 2 or 3, one just a few days ago, and they've all been pretty lame. I guess you can't pay the big city rent anymore on the back of baseball cards and autographed balls. In a city with 500 places selling poke bowls, you'd think a few cards stores could thrive. Nope.

Brigandi on W44 was pretty cool in its day. Last time I walked by looked like they've left the building. Last edited by Snapolit1; 06-21-2017 at 03:19 PM. |

I prefer any I've been to in NYC over any I've been to in New Jersey. But maybe because I've had to deal with having maybe the worst one in Jersey being the nearest to me. The guys just sits in the back on the computer. Everything it over priced and he will not negotiate. I also have heard a ton of people say he sell fake autographs. The spot is for the true suckers that think they know the hobby. Then get ripped a new one with a smile on there face.

We have quite a few good ones in New Jersey depending on what you are looking for. In total there are probably about 40 stores across the state that sell cards.... Also I think brigandi is still in business.

Check out- Gotta Have It on East 57th. Ask about cards (typically hidden away), but some nice memorabilia.

What happened to Alex's on Upper East Side? Comics and cards. Has or had antique furniture store across the street also.
Got my greatest bargain ever there--30 years ago--ungraded Marquard CJ--turned out to be top-graded PSA 7. |

There are a couple out on Long Island; the names are escaping me right now and American Legends in Westchester County that are pretty good and fairly priced.
I know that Mark at American Legends only keeps some of his vintage out in the showcase because they are taken up by shiny new refractors, but if you ask, he has a solid selection in the back. |

It shocks me how so many people are surprised by this.

Indeed, but they do have some cool stuff. Walked through on numerous lunch hours.
They were renovating their space last time I walked by. Wasn't sure if they were moving, shutting down, etc. |

I had never heard of either poke bowls or crudo before reading this thread, which I guess means I'm not hip. But now that I've googled them both, I have some idea what people are talking about. Carry on.

Surprised to hear this. I bought this Wagner from them for $1,000, which I thought was a pretty good deal:

Do you mean insanely hacked up? Certainly back in the days of SCD ads they had that reputation.

Attack of the BB Cards was when I lived in NJ, and believe still is, Steve Mandy who is a nice guy. You'll enjoy talking to him at the very least

As far as Brigandi; I follow them on Instagram. They are still in business but the location moved a few months ago. |

I had heard of both Pokeballs and Poke Bowls, and figured that they were getting mixed up in this thread. I guess not. Although I'm sure there are more stores that sell Pokemon items in NYC than dedicated baseball card shops.

I don't know if this baseball card place in Harlem is still open. It's shown 20:17 into the documentary:
