I am no expert on lightsabers, can you tell me about them? Are they reproductions? I was told by a photography collector that the original lightsabers were handles for flash photography back in the day.

Was lucky to snag this little gem , the back story is hilarious......
Gaedel was under strict orders not to attempt to move the bat off his shoulder. When Veeck got the impression that Gaedel might be tempted to swing at a pitch, the owner warned Gaedel that he had taken out a $1 million insurance policy on his life, and that he would be standing on the roof of the stadium with a rifle prepared to kill Gaedel if he even looked like he was going to swing. Veeck had carefully trained Gaedel to assume a tight crouch at the plate; he had measured Gaedel's strike zone in that stance and claimed it was just one and a half inches high. However, when Gaedel came to the plate, he abandoned the crouch he had been taught for a pose that Veeck described as "a fair approximation of Joe DiMaggio's classic style,"leading Veeck to fear he was going to swing. With Bob Cain on the mound - laughing at the absurdity that he actually had to pitch to Gaedel - and catcher Bob Swift catching on his knees, Gaedel took his stance. The Tigers catcher offered his pitcher a piece of strategy: "Keep it low." Cain delivered four consecutive balls, all high (the first two pitches were legitimate attempts at strikes; the last two were half-speed tosses). Gaedel took his base (stopping twice during his trot to bow to the crowd) and was replaced by pinch-runner Jim Delsing. The 18,369 fans gave Gaedel a standing ovation. ___________________________ My next E-Mail update to be sent Friday April 7th, if you haven't subscribed already link is below and yes little Eddie Promises to be there http://stinsonsports.com/newsletter/ ____________________ direct e-mail jim@stinsonsports.com |

.
. For the past several years my new year’s resolution has been to try limiting my acquisitions only to autographs of vintage Detroit Tigers ballplayers on my want list. Or, for extraordinary autograph items (authentic) offered at too-good-to-pass-on prices. Needless to say, both of those scenarios have generated very few purchases. And so, each year, my resolve is tested, and I give in; but just alittle. As it did Wednesday night (4/05/2017) with the latest Clean Sweep on-line auction. I did not need either of these two items. And the quality of both is, in my eyes, marginal given the tight cuts. But the price on the Bob Fothergill lined cut was acceptable, and the typed note by Bobby Veach on the back of the 3x5 with his signed document cut was just “the gravy” to entice me to bid. Neither are world moving, or earth shaking in nature, but do represent the first two autographs I have purchased this year. Now to get back on the straight and narrow path of staying true to that new year’s resolution. |

Wonderful item for my women in baseball collection. The National Girls Baseball League was very similar to the early incarnation of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (A League Of Their Own). The NGBL lasted 11 seasons and was based in the upper midwest at the same time as the AAGPBL. Both leagues were really softball leagues, with the AAGPBL eventually transitioning towards more of an overhand baseball format by the end of its existence and the NGBL maintaining underhand throughout. The two leagues shared many many players through their decades plus of existences.
This is an autograph book which features signatures of the entire NGBL for the 1949 season. All six teams are featured. Just a wonderful wonderful piece of history. I will only post two for the sake of brevity. 71 (or more) NGBL signatres in all. ![]() ![]() Tom C |

I just picked up this early career (circa 1954-1955) signed example of HOF Sandy Koufax's signature on an A/P. Many thanks to net54's David Linardy for selling this to me.
Within the last month I also added this other circa 1962 A/P exemplar of Sandy's scribe that was acquired at the Hotel Roosevelt, likely on the Dodgers' 1st return to NY since their sad departure to the Left Coast in 1957. With the introduction of the expansion NY Mets in 1962, the LA Dodgers returned once again. It is known that the Dodgers stayed at Hotel Roosevelt when in NY in this era. This 1962 signed A/P came from the collection of Sandy Koufax specialist and long-time good friend Phil Paul, also another net54 board member. Last edited by Scott Garner; 04-10-2017 at 04:17 AM. |

Got this off the BST. I'm not much of a modern signature guy, but I thought the inscription was pretty cool, so I couldn't pass it up.

I am not saying if good or bad, but be aware of the Say Hey logo, they have been stolen/reproduced in mass quantities and put on some bad signatures. Rumor is one the big three TPAs are starting to automatically fail them based on the sticker alone.

I actually pulled a redemption card for that ball in one of those blowout super boxes. Mailed it in and they sent the ball. Thanks for the warning. Maybe I will take the sticker off and see what psa says. Would I have any recourse if they say it's fake?

Very pleased to add this Lou Gehrig signed postcard to my collection. Signature is on the reverse of a Cleveland hotel postcard (where the Yankees would stay while playing the Indians on their home turf). It's small, and Lou's shortened version, but boy do I love it!
Special thanks to Greg Nazareth for agreeing to part with it... He's a real class act. |

I recently picked up this vintage signed snapshot of Yankees pitcher Monte Pearson in 1938.
In the 2nd game of a DH on August 27th, 1938 Monte Pearson made history by hurling the 1st no-hitter at historic Yankee Stadium. |
