Anyone see "The Accountant" yet? NOT off-topic...

Entertaining, but the highlight of the movie (for me, and I'd bet for many of you!) was about a third of the way through when Anna Kendrick is rifling through Ben Affleck's stash of getaway cash and other "unconventional forms of payment."

After the drawer of gold ingots, she slides open the next one and there's a T206 Wagner, a T205 Hoblitzell (presumably w/o stat line), a 1915 Cracker Jack Mathewson and a 1922 American Caramel Babe Ruth "holding bird" (all appear to be pretty good knock-offs). Two comic books were above the cards: Superman #1 and one with the Joker on the cover (Batman #1?) Sort of funny that they included the Hoblitzell, only card geeks like us would get that. Maybe the producer or director is a card collector...

I had to pause the DVR a couple of times to make sure of these identifications, and none were in PSA or SGC slabs! If anyone can ID the small card on the far left of the row, I'd be interested to hear what you think it is.

Awesome As far as the comics books go, although the #1's would be valuable, it's their first appearances that bring the biggest bucks: Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27, respectively. Amazing pieces.

The Joker didn't appear on the cover of Batman #1, although he made his first appearance in that issue.

The earliest issue of Batman with the Joker on the cover is #11, although a later issue (#23) has a more prominent image of him.

Fun Fact: the Joker was originally supposed to die in Batman #1, but at the last minute the editors realized what a great character he was, and changed the ending of the story.

Sorry to change the subject, but did anyone see last week's Elementary? In it Holmes explains why someone stole a baseball card: "Eddie Plank's 1909 card was about to be auctioned off for an estimated $300,000. That's why." They didn't show the Plank, however.

There is a series on amazon prime called Good Girls Revolt which is set in the late sixties and early 70s. In the last episode of season 1, there's a Mickey Mantle signed baseball in the scene, and whoever was in charge of creating the prop did his homework, because the sig looks a lot like mantle's. Appreciate that attention to detail.

Yup, I noticed them as well as the Jackson Pollock and Monet (or was it Renoir I honestly don't remember) painting. Great movie too, IMHO!!

Heh, I rewound the movie and paused it at that scene too. Also note that he grabbed one of the comic books when he was packing but we never see what he does with it.

Coincidently, just saw it tonight at "cheap theatres". In the scene, I saw the cards, but Action Comics #1 certainly got more visibility.

Like you guys, I love it when our hobby gets some mainstream attention, comparing payment with gold bars, paintings, and the Euro.

Not a bad flick either. Screams "sequel"...
