I just picked up my first card from this series and would love to see more and get some more information about these cards. My understanding is that they were issued in Venezuela around 1930. There are few major stars but there are cards of Martin Dihigo and a few other negro leaguers as well as cards for Luis Apiricio's (sp?) father and uncle. I also would argue that the cards are significant because they are the first cards that feature images of integrated teams and integrated game action

Neat cards. Here is a different version I have not seen before...though i am sure more are out there... I don't think this thread will have a lot of participants, unfortunately.

Great topic Jason, I like these cards as well.
One of the best Latin cards you can get is found within the set, which is the Dihigo card that pictures him in his Hilldale Negro Uniform. Very significant card due to the fact that there are only 4 known cards of players with their Negro League uni's on. Here's some scans that I could find of the few I own: The great "Dominican Deer" Tetelo Vargas (first card) Luis Aparicio Sr. Venezuelan Star Balbino Inojosa Steve Last edited by mannybb24; 01-26-2014 at 09:59 AM. |

I'll post some scans and details about the different Doble Aguila sets later when I get a chance. They were issued in 1931, 1932, 1934, and 1935. There a total of 6 Martin Dihigo cards among them. Three from 1931, two from 1932, and one from 1934. The ones Leon posted are from 1935.

The black bordered set was multisport. It included quite a few boxing cards, including HOFers Pedro Montanez and Sixto Escobar.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would post on here just in case. I have listed 5 Doble Aguila cards on eBay. See my post in the eBay auction forum or just search my ID reyoung68. All 5 start at 99 cents!
