I told my boys (6 and 8 yrs old) they could each choose an old baseball card for Christmas. So I got them to the T206Resource.com site and let them wander thru the gallery. I told them to write down 3 numbers (each of the 524 cards are numbered on the site) which they liked the best. After 10 or 15 minutes they each had four numbers written down.
Figured it'd be neat to share their favorite images, not knowing any HOFer names or rarity values etc. Note: all images linked to T206Resource.com, thanks Tim & Jim! My 6 year old's selections: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My 8 year old's selections: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So I'll be on the lookout for a low-grade example to give them each their first pre-WW1 baseball card (I think I gave them each a Goudey last year). Maybe if they like T206s for a couple years they can continue that, or switch to a candy issue. Feel free to share which old baseball cards your kids are interested in or what you might be getting them this holiday season! Rob ![]() |

just realized after reviewing the pics in the post that all are action shots, no portraits! Kids love the action

That's an awesome idea - thanks for sharing. I have no idea how I would have felt when I was a kid, but my guess is that the horizontals would have caught my eye!

Rob,
Absolutely GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't agree more with your son's choices and especially reasons: Anderson, Powell, Oakes, and Conroy are classic fielding poses. And Bransfield is super happy with his impending catch !!! ![]() Byrne and McBride are also classic batting poses. I find it interesting he choose both. Byrne with his tree trunk of a bat with bright colors, compared to the single color of McBride holding his mini-souvenir bat !!! Of course Chase holding trophy, we all like trophies. ![]() ![]() HAHA, no Cobb, Johnson, Matty, or Young !!!!!! No kids myself, but 4 nieces. Three of which would care less, but the youngest, I'll give her a choice this holiday. She's only 8, but played ss/3b for the 10 year old girl's softball team, and now is starting point guard for the 10 year old basketball team. Quite a sportsman. |
