Thought it might be interesting to hear from others what particular card issue or set has changed drastically, either in price or availability in the last ten years or so?
For me I think the e99 and e100 bishops have seemingly dried up compared to the availability I remember seeing them 10 year ago. But what's also interesting in saying that is the prices for them when sold now seem to be quite a bit less. Anyone else have an opinion or thought on the bishops or another issue that has changed over the years? |

Even though the e99 and e100 cards don't show up that often it seems everyone that needs them has them? The prices of these and many other very scarce, and neat, sets are down from back then.

It does seem like there are maybe fewer type card collectors than a few years ago...although I haven't paid that much attention either - there may be more.
And I know you've tracked some of these issues better than I have Leon...but the Bishops and sets like the E104's which I used to be able to pick up not easily but I wouldn't have to search every nook and cranny, now it seems tougher anyway. |

I agree...e99/100 are selling much cheaper now than they used to...t216 have dried up and still command solid prices...as well as t215...they are rarely seen and command bigger prices than ever it seems.
d359 are dirt cheap compared to prices years ago. I am one of these "former" type card collectors who no longer is!!! Last edited by ullmandds; 09-01-2015 at 09:13 AM. |

Pete - you did a complete 100% reversal in 60 days on your thoughts on T216's....again all based on ONE evening. Just what kind of expert are you??? Last edited by asphaltman; 11-06-2015 at 05:36 AM. |

Come on Dave. I don't think Pete's post deserved that though I do think the BST BS was uncalled for.

As an expert on opinion reversal, 60 days is an appropriate time frame to change one's view.

I've changed my opinion ...45 days is more appropriate .

The demand for E121-80's hasn't changed much, but our knowledge of what is in the set has been changing considerably. Does that count?

Nor would this have been brought up....but Switzerland and Pete both had to rehash the thread 24 hours later.
And my post #4 you took offense to in the BST thread wouldn't have happened had post #3 not have occurred. |

I'm not saying you're wrong...but where are you getting that info? That's not what i'm seeing on vintagecardprices.

A legitimate offer was made and you kind of went off on the guy.....that started it. I didn't take offense, I could care less, I was only saying why the rules were bent for that thread. (*as I stated in it)

Well we have differing views on a legitimate offer. 10%-15%....ok. 50%??? I'll admit, T216's aren't sold every day like T206's. So of course there is some room for argument on their "current" value. But if I want something and its on the BST for TWICE what I feel it's worth - I can assure you I'm not asking the guy if he'll take half of his asking price and especially in the thread. To each their own.

T216 are thinly traded and it's difficult to set exact market value on individual cards. I don't know of anyone who is attempting to put together a set. I'm not even sure there is a consensus on what a set would comprise of..Old Cardboard lists the set at 73 cards...on the SGC Set Registry they have the number complete at 105. It depends upon whether you throw all the backs in together like they do in T206, or if you only collect cards with the same ad backs.
Most people are just buying these as "types" and would rather have one in the condition that the Shean is in, since they are only buying one card ever from the set. I collect them in player back runs, so I would have been ready to pay a retail price on say for example the Bresnahan, had I been doing a Bresnahan run. I thought the Shean sold a little low, however I was the second underbidder, about $8 from the final sales price. Had I really wanted the Shean I would have bid around $401 on ebay to make sure that I got it, so it would have sold for more... |
