While upgrading my 1971 Topps set and closely inspecting those crazy hard black boarders I noticed something a little unusual about Mr. Dick Bosman. Check out the left side of the card and you can see part of the print where it clearly says "film". My older card of this was a darker print and it just showed up as a black line, but in this case you can clearly see what was going on. Anyone else ever seen an instance like this in another card? Just thought it was kind of a cool mistake that slipped by some Topps folks upon final output/approval.

Very cool!
I have close to a complete set ripped from wax in year of issue. What's the card# on that? (So I don't have to thumb through the whole thing). |

Is that defect common to that card ? Is it harder to find one without it ?

Apparently so. I just did a quick eBay search and every example of that card had the same defect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In addition to ebay, I went through the approx. 20 copies of this card (as it is a more populated low number) I have and all have this same strip along the left edge of the image.

my other card had the strip (I think they all do), but it was just really hard to see since it looked like a black line due to the fact that the card seemed like a darker print. Honestly, I'm surprised I ended up seeing it!

It is a neat oddity, and I had never noticed it. Glad you pointed it out, Rob

In a similar vein, everyone knows about the Graig Nettles loop error on the 1969 cards, but did you notice that his picture also bleeds into his fellow rookie's shot? It's on both versions of the card, and the cropping error seems to be uncorrected.
