If you are there on a Sunday, Renninger's in Adamstown has a dealer or two with some old stuff. You'll have to navigate the 100's of tables of other "vintage" items.

VSM Sports Card Outlet. 2160 Lincoln Highway East, Suite 3, Lancaster PA 17602. It is in a shopping center next to the Friendly's. I found it when I was traveling to a show at the American Music Theatre in March.

Thanks to all. I will check out those stores, although I was thinking Stoudt's as opposed to Reningers in Adamstown (the beer is a +)!

I would think PA and the surrounding areas would be good for "new to the hobby" finds too. I doubt ya' have time to check out any out-of-the-way places on a business trip, but I always thought it would be fun to go rooting around in old communities in that area.

Also, there are plenty of consignment shops between Stoudts and Renningers south on route 272 that can keep you busy all day. If you get down Renningers way, go about a mile further and stop in Morphy's Auction House on the right, you'll be glad you did.

Has been there forever and at the right time you can score some good hits. Keith is correct countless antique consignment stores in the immediate renninger's area. As well as a few antique flea markets on Sunday's. They do start to thin out over the next month or two.

Don't forget about Hakes in York, PA if you have some extra time to drive west. That will be about during their Fall catalog Auction, so you can view the lots in person. They typically always have some vintage baseball cards & memorabilia.

We visit friends in the Strasburg area quite often. While there, I always drop in to Don's Collectibles shop.
The following gives you a flavor of what Don has in store. Over the years, I've acquired a good number of T206's (including two nice looking Cobb's and some tough backs). Also, T201's, T202's, T205's, Delong's, Goudey's, and 1949 Leaf's. And, if you haven't already done so, check-out the Strasburg Pennsylvania Railroad Museum. You don't have to be a Railroad enthusiast like me to appreciate the "real American heavy metal" on display in this Museum. TED Z . |
