Hello all,
I am very new to vintage and have a question regarding value. Ebay is not as helpful as I would like, and I am in the midst of negotiating a value on this item. Card looks great, and I am sure a PSA 5 is a pretty solid grade. From your experience, what do you all think is a fair value for this card. I know not everyone will agree on an exact number, but if you were looking to buy, what do you think would be fair to both the buyer and seller. $775 is the number he wants. I appreciate all of your thoughts and opinions as this will be my first big purchase into the vintage world... |

If you want real world dollar figures, do an ebay search of completed/sold auctions to see if any PSA 5 examples pop up. There's probably a wide range of '51 Bowman Ford cards to be seen there, both graded and ungraded, so it's definitely worth a look to help assess value.

Www.vintagecardprices.com is an invaluable resource for recent sales prices. It's well worth the monthly subscription if you plan to do some buying and selling, especially if you're new to the market. Looks like the average recent sales price for a PSA 5 '51 Bowman Ford is about $592. Even the higher-end sales are well under $775. Sometimes it can help to show the seller the info so he knows you're not lowballing. If he won't come down, there will be plenty of more opportunities. Good luck!
Well let me add one caveat - if you love the card and will enjoy it no matter what, then that's more important than the "average sales price." But try to save a few dollars anyway!

Dan pretty much summed it up. If the card was dead centered I think my max would be 650.
