Can I get help with a Mantle photo please?

I never knew how to tell if a photo was a type 1 type 2 copy etc... Any help is greatly appreciated

It looks to be an original wire photo. That would make it a Type 3 or Type 4. Hope this helps.

Wirephotos were copies sent through the telephone lines (wire) to newspapers by news services such as Associated Press and UP. They are vintage to the date in the caption, but not first generation/original photos made from the original negative. You can tell yours is a wirephoto, because the caption is in the image itself, as opposed to being pasted to the front.

Wirephotos aren't worth as much as the original versions, but are collectable because they are official photos by the news services and are vintage to the date of the image/caption.
