Default Weird series of events with Joe's Vintage Auctions

Hi guys,

For those who know me, you know I try to never post anything negative. I love collecting and that's the place where my posts come from. However I felt I needed to share this weird series of events with Joe's Vintage Auctions.

First off let me say that I have bought from them countless times in the past, and seem to win something every auction...everything couldn't be smoother. A couple weeks back I saw a 1949 Bob Lemon SGC 55 Joe's was selling on Ebay for I believe $120...I emailed them and asked if $100 would take it...they came back at $110 and I decided to pass. In last week's JVSC auction I won the same Lemon for $95. Instead of shipping it to me (Middlesex, NJ...where they always ship my winnings to) it got shipped here:

Now it looks like the same exact card is back up on Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1949-Bowman-...item1c4e36cff3

I have contacted them to see what happened, but wanted to get some opinions if this seems fishy, or if I am jumping the gun. My first instinct was this seems a little off, but I never had any issues with them before.

Thanks,
Rob

sounds like a USPS screw up as all of those communities listed are very close in location with each other. I went to School at The University of Illinois in the 80's and am quite familiar with the area. I would call direct and ask about the card as I am sure that there is no monkey business as I have also bought from Joes with no issues.

You could be right Ken, although don't know why the same card I won is currently on Ebay,

In this hobby there are good guys and there are not-so-good guys. Joe is one of the former. He doesn't do funny business. Been buying from him for years. Wonky things sometimes happen with any anybody. Probably all this is. If it were me I wouldn't be sweating it.

Not sure what happened to your card but the two listings have different cert numbers (Ebay: 1369460-252; JVSC: 1369460-265) so it isn't the exact same card even though it is in the same condition.

Bryan, thanks for pointing that out!! I was hoping it was a mistake and it looks like that is what it probably is. Will post once resolved.

Thanks!

Very similar cards, but you are right...two different cert. numbers...I was about to post the same thing!

Looks like a pure coincidence

I have so much faith in Joe's that if they don't make it right I will send you the original asking price of $120 myself.

Hi, Rob,

I echo David's comment on Joe--there are good guys and bad guys, and Joe's one of the good ones. It had to have been a mistake that the card was sent to the wrong place. Joe doesn't have a mean or spiteful bone in his body.

An example: I STUPIDLY didn't read Joe's billing correctly, and he voluntarily returned a few dollars I had overpaid him. That's honesty in the face of my stupidity.

Joe is among among the best in our hobby.

Cheers,
Mike

Agreed, Joe is definitely one of the best. Looks like the tracking number on my invoice was entered incorrectly. All is good.

Thanks guys for reassuring me that Joe's is top notch!!

Default Joe is one of the best

Wouldn't worry about it at all, but if you still have concerns, reach out to him. He is always very easy to work with, and one of the best guys around.

+1. I've found Joe to be one of the best, easiest guys to work with in the industry. He's refunded shipping charges without being asked when I've won back to back weekly auctions and paid them at the same time. Always a pleasure to do business with.

I would make that same offer too!
Knowing full well that Joe will resolve the problem.
If he buys anything from me, I would ship it before payment arrives as he does this constantly for me.

Rob,

I'm guessing your tracking number was: 9400109699939664719300

The reason I'm guessing that is because I live in Robinson, IL, and that tracking number is the one that is tied to the package I received from Joe's last week. The only thing that was in my package was the T206 common that I had won in the previous auction. Nothing else was in the box.

I'm guessing that the tracking number for my order somehow got copied to your order as well. I wish you luck with finding your card.

Mike

Hey Mike,

That is correct! The tracking numbers got mixed up, apparently my card is on it's way to me so all should be good.

Just curious: You made this post on a Sunday night around 11:30. How much time did you give the seller to respond to your inquiry before seeking public opinion?

Hardly any, was just a couple strange coincidences highlighted by myself not checking the entire cert#. Was certainly not trying to be negative...lesson learned.

Those are two different cards look at the back. The number 240, the two is slightly missing on one and not the other.
