Default SOLD: Cy Young pennant

This is another item from the collection I've been selling for an elderly friend who was active in our hobby for more than 40 years. I've been holding off listing it because I wasn't sure exactly what it is. Then, this week I saw the current Leland's auction online:

http://www.lelands.com/Auction/Aucti...-Young-Pennant

I'm typing this paragraph in bold to make clear that I do not think this pennant is a "turn of the century" "tobacco premium." The material doesn't have the feel of early 20th century; it's like a polyester or other man-made fabric. Before seeing the Leland's listing, I never would have guessed it came with Cy Young Tobacco & Cigars.

My friend was an avid attendee of the Ohio Baseball Hall of Fame inductions every summer, which once were held in Newcomerstown, the birthplace of Cy Young. I think at one point there also was a Cy Young museum in Newcomerstown, and even today the town holds a Cy Young Days festival. My guess is this was some kind of giveaway at an event in Newcomerstown during the 1970s (when my friend attended these functions) related to Cy Young.

My example is of similar size (7.25 inches) to the one in Leland's (7.13 inches, per the listing).

So there you have it: one item, two descriptions -- one coming from a regular guy, the other from one of the more prestigious auctions houses ever to grace our hobby. Gosh, I know who believe.

$xxx delivered. Shipping within United States only.

PayPal is fine. No need to "gift" your payment. Checks, money orders and cash are OK, too.

A commitment to buy takes precedence over an ongoing negotiation.

Feel free to email any questions.

Thanks,

Rob

Very reasonable shipping charges and a very unreasonable description. Kind of evens out I guess.

Great. Half the people who read this will wonder whether you're talking about me or the auction house.

Rob, you really need to take a sales course. Honesty? C'mon.
