Hey guys Jesse again. Back with another Bat with another story. So here it is. Back in 2000 i was at a Bridgeport bluefish game (local independent team). they were playing against the Newark bears. Ozzie Canseco was playing with that team at the time. So me and my friends being a bunch of 16 year olds decided to go heckle the crud out of Ozzie while he was in the on deck circle. Not many people go to these games hence why we were able to get down to the front row. After some good heckling and laughing Ozzie said to us oh yea wanna see what i can do? We said to him hey man you arent anything like your brother. He laughed and walked to the batters box. First pitch huge swing and miss lost his balance and fell. He pointed at us and laughed. Second pitch bigger swing and hits a broken batter dinker back to the pitcher. So here comes Ozzie head down laughing. We say "Ozzie let us get that broken bat." He said alright let me see what i can do. Goes into the dugout comes back out and hands us an unbroken bat. Tape and minor tar on the handle, 1 ball mark in the sweet spot. Barrel of the bat says Jose Canseco Tampa Bay Devil Rays! Knob of the bat say CANSECO 33 in red ink. See Jose had just been traded to the Yankees and with Ozzie out of bats and in town he picked up some of Jose's bats with the Devil Rays Stamp on it. Now whether the bat was used by Jose or Ozzie we don't really know. There is only 1 ball mark on the entire bat. But i wanted to see if someone could give me an idea of the value of this. Yes I know I should get paperwork on it and the best guy to talk to would be Jon Taube. I spoke with him a couple of years ago pertaining the Mickey Mantle bat as some of you may remember. Anyways take a look let me know what you guys think. It may be for sale so if theres some interest let me know. Sorry I've been pretty inactive on here. But i have been lurking in the shadows. Just don't have any money these days for the hobby.

oh and just to add, I have done some research over the years and I do know that during the time he used this model he had 2 different models 456x and 456a with the A model not being as common.

Your bat and story seem familiar, did you ask on this or BO forums before about it?
Very cool bat with a even cooler story, sorry I can't add anything as I don't collect bats, hopefully someone can help you. |

It's a cool bat but I csjt seeing it have a lot of value, probably less than $60. It's just a bat issued to jose then used by someone else in a minor league game. You can buy real bats used by jose himself from World Series years with good use for less than $300.
