Found this interesting. Here is one of umteen thousand M101-5 Babe Ruth listings with the old "as is" slogan
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Babe-Ruth-ca...item27ee4b5807 A completely different seller whom appears to come from Slovakia of all places just as the Ruth sellers does selling this T-210 Joe Jackson. Interestingly, the scans don't look half bad http://www.ebay.com/itm/Joe-Jackson-...01639687&rt=nc Are these just stolen scans or pretty good looking reprints? |

I especially like his succinct description: "no guarantee of authenticity, but nice piece anyway"
I'd say that about sums it up! ![]() peace, mike |

Nice reprints. They'd at least look good in a collection.

I remember an American businessman who travelled a lot said he had bought a German made Babe Ruth 'Speedy' movie real photo postcards at a street market in Estonia, the vendor selling European silent movie real photo postcards (Europe issued a lot of real photo movie postcards in the old days-- Greta Garbo, Rudolph Valentino, Bela Lugosi, Charlie Chaplin et al). He was concerned it might be a reprint, but I said I highly doubted there was any demand for Babe Ruth memorabilia amongst Estonians, so, if it looked okay, chances were it was genuine. I also added that European movie postcards were originally sold in Europe and collected by Europeans, who were as much of movie fans as we Americans (And notice that all of the Hollywood movie stars I just named were European), so it's perfectly reasonable that's where it would be found.
In short, its safe to buy Babe Ruth cards from Slovakia, Romania or Estonia, but only if you're in in Slovakia, Romania or Estonia. The Babe Ruth/Harold Lloyd 'Speedy' postcard is a rare example of a Ruth item where it is perfectly reasonable for it to be being sold by a European on eBay. They were made in Germany and the text is in German. Last edited by drcy; 10-19-2014 at 02:25 PM. |

The Ruth is a fake, but I can't say whether the Jackson is real or not.

All his cards are fake.
Oddly, his stamps are ok. $361 for a laser print glued to cardboard.......... grumble grumble, darn conscience grumble...... Steve B |

My longtime partner is from the Czech part of the former Czechoslavakia. She says that you can trust any vintage baseball cards coming from the Czech Republic, but beware of those conniving scammers from the backwater that is Slovakia...their cardboard is no good.
