So my 12 year old thinks he is sly and shows my 21 year old son the 1989 Bill Ripken w/ explicit he found on the internet.
So my 21 year old asks if we have it, and I tell him yes, but I actually want the Black Box version, as it was a bit more rare (I thought, but maybe not) and I just always wanted it because it was a different variation. So I get home and ask my 12 year old about how/why he asked his brother about the explicit version and then tell him, "you know we have that explicit version". So he asks where it is and so I show him. While he is looking, I am telling him that back in the day, i really wanted the black box version but ever got it in a pack and I was disappointed. So I turn around to look at our sets and notice I do have that 1989 Fleer factory set. I very carefully opened it and went to the card and immediately GO OFF!!!! It IS the Black Box version!! I DO HAVE IT!!!! I know stupid, not very big news, story. But to me, it is GREAT and I had to share. I always wanted that card and to find out, I have actually had it for 25 years!!! ![]() Last edited by K-Nole; 06-09-2014 at 04:48 PM. |

Great story, nice that your son takes an interest in the hobby you are obviously passionate about.
