Any chance this print is from the 19th century? I just bought this on Ebay. The paper is textured, fairly thick and definitely very old but I'm not so sure of the image itself. There is no pixilation under a loupe. Anyone have any thoughts?

Chris, if the paper is thick then doubtful. It is either a real albumen or a reprint of an albumen, meaning the paper should be thin and it should be mounted. Anything else would be extremely unusual.

Looks fairly grainy to me. And the area where the photographer wrote his name should be clear and not splotchy like it is. 2nd generation as least if not more than that.

I agree with you guys. Much too grainy.

It's not from the 1800s.
