No problem with the dealer, just the grade assigned by PSA:

What's the big deal? It's only 3 big spots of paper loss on the front.

Looks to me like the residue of a sticker, as it seems to extend above the card, not paper loss.

I saw this one when it was first listed and just shook my head. The card may have had some substance on it or else it just gets handled a lot, because you can see lots of small paper specks accumulating in the holder itself. I don't usually see that in cards with paper loss--as if the holder is damaging the card further.

I'm being serious here, and I think I've written this before. I really think that there is a grader(s) at PSA with sloppy handwriting as I've seen some other cards that are graded 5 which should have been 2's. I think the person who is entering the grades can't quite read their writing or is assuming that 2 is a 5. (This is just my opinion, and I have absolutely no evidence for this.)

The more I look at that card, the more I question whether there was some light staining that contained material that reacted to being in the holder. The upper right-hand corner area shows some discoloration that is not typical of the card in its natural aging process. Perhaps that type of discoloration existed in the areas that now exhibit paper loss. I say that because if you disregard the paper loss, that card is mighty strong for a grade of 5-- I would grade it 6 or 6.5 with those corners and edges, and have seen weak 7s that look about like that. So either the grader was being particularly harsh in knocking it down to a 5, or there were some discoloration issues that justified the grade reduction (clearly if he saw paper loss the card would have received a 1 or 1.5, at least technically). My two cents.

I'm sitting here with Dmitri Young and he thinks that card could get a 10, if he were to resubmit it..

With the card either above or below it? I did not bother going to the verification on PSA website to check. I know this happend to me on 2 T206 cards and they fixed it for me.

+1. It does look to me like paper loss, which usually relegates a card to no better than fair, even if the paper loss is on the reverse (which neither I nor my '56 Kahn's Frank Robinson agrees with, by the way!). Eye appeal will often, if perhaps not consistently, trump technical grade. See the recent sale of the 1939 R303 Goudey Premium Ted Williams by Mike Wheat, which had been graded VG, due to light staining, but appeared near mint--$1,675.
