So in reading some of the latest threads on how we all got into collecting I remembered that in 1978 my older brother had a terrible accident and was hospitalized for two weeks. Our Associate pastor brought him a box of 1978 Topps cards as a gift. We were a family with very little and neither my brother nor I had ever even seen a baseball card before.
For three years I look at, flipped, read and reread, studied and played with these cards until we were able to afford to get some ourselves at the local market. I related this story to my wife and she suggested I build the set from scratch. I told her I could find a complete one cheaper in the long run but she insisted to do it like I tried, unsuccessfully, as a kid. (Gotta love my wife and her support of me) Drew FINSHED! Thank you to all how helped me take this journey down memory lane Drew[/B] Last edited by almostdone; 01-13-2014 at 09:46 PM. Reason: Needs update |
