![]() John WOW....this Ed Delahanty is one of the sharpest looking OJ cards that I have seen. It's interesting that his name is spelled correctly on this OJ and on my Buffalo team picture. As opposed to subsequent issued cards of the Delahanty's. TED Z |

Discounting rarity, from a player and image quality perspective, I still consider your Old Judge Ed Delehanty the most amazing N172 I have ever seen. Joe T. |

Ted -- did Tom have any cards? I reckon he might be on a few pictures and/or team photos, but I thought given his very brief career (and timeline of when he played), he wasn't on any specific cards

Tom Delahanty images seem to be scarce. There is one in the 1905 Spalding Guide (below left). He also appears with Cleveland in the 1897 Guide. Below right is from the photo used there.

Great stuff on this thread!
Here's a Barr-Farnham card of Jim Delahanty. This is a page from a Washington team album that was given to Jim Delahanty and the card doesn't have the usual B-F postcard paper backing. The albums were given to each player on the team. By the way the notation P.P.C. Co. stands for Photo Post Card Company. ![]() Robert S |

Here's an old Phillies team photo......"Big Ed" is in it; but, I do not think Tom Delehanty is in this picture.
Perhaps, Tom is in the 1894 team picture (the year of his Major League debut). Regarding the 1894 Phillies season....check-out these stats ** Team BA = .349 ....this team record is the highest BA in Major League history. Ed Delehanty batted .407 including 200 Hits, 39 Doubles, 18 Triples, 4 HR's, 131 RBI's Billy Hamilton batted .404 including 225 Hits, 25 Doubles, 15 Triples, 4 HR's, 90 RBI's Sam Thompson batted .407 including 178 Hits, 29 Doubles, 27 Triples, 13 HR's, 141 RBI's ** ....source is The Phillies Encyclopedia ![]() TED Z __________________________________________________ ______________________________________ LOOKING for these 4 - T206 guys to complete my EXCLUSIVE 12 red HINDU sub-set (12 subjects) FORD....McGRAW (glove)....PFEFFER....SHECKARD (glove) Last edited by tedzan; 11-18-2013 at 10:52 AM. |

I didn't think Tom was in that 1895 photo, since I cannot find any source of information confirming that he played for the Phillies in 1895. TED Z |

Ted - your photo appears in the 1895 Spalding Guide - hence it is the 1894 team. Oddly - the same photo appeared in the 1896 Guide labeled as the 1895 team. Anyway - the IDs from the 1896 Guide seem to be correct and they are:
Callahan - Allen - (Ed) Delahanty - Boyle - Thompson - Taylor - Reilly Clements - Weyhing - Hallman - Irwin - Carsey - Hamilton - Haddock McGinnis - Sharrott - Turner - Grady Below from the 1895 Guide: |

Great research Mark
Thanx for identifying the players. And, I'm not surprised that Tom Delahanty is not in this 1894 Phillies team photo (Tom's Major League debut was September 29, 1894). TED Z |

Being a lifelong Phillies fan, I have always been fascinated by Ed Delahanty. Here is a heads up for those of you not familiar with with Jerrold Casway's excellent book on Ed Delahanty. I have no affiliation with the book or the author, other than saying it was awesome read dealing Delahanty's with life and personality beyond the fall to his death.
http://www.amazon.com/Ed-Delahanty-E...s=ed+delahanty In addition to Delahanty, Sam Thompson and Billy Hamilton all batting above .400 in 1894, reserve outfielder Tuck Turner also batted .418 that year. That was good enough only for second in the league, though, behind Hugh Duffy's MLB record .440. So many awesome mustaches in that Phillies team photo from 1894. Amazing that just 15 years later, John Titus was the rebel for his mustache. ![]() Last edited by Bored5000; 11-19-2013 at 09:10 AM. |

Here is a Stall and Dean, Jim Delahanty bat that I listed with Mears this week - chopped at the end, but an unbelievably heavy war club, super dense wood. Only Stall and Dean Delahanty that I've ever seen
