The auction will begin after the series has ended. I think if Boston loses the ball wouldn't carry that much value.

I can't see the ball bringing that much money. I agree with Packs, if the Sox lose the series, the ball brings $1,000 maybe.
I am a lifelong Red Sox fan, and I can't see paying much at all for this ball. It's not like a World Series winning homerun. It's not even a walk-off HR. With the Sox winning the Series in 2004 & 2007 means that this is not as big a deal to Sox fans. If they win the Series, you might see a little action on this, but no where near the $50,000 - $100,000 the auction house estimates. |

How many significant balls are available from the post season from a huge market team each year? Not many. If the Sox win and as a Jays fan, I can't stand the idea of an AL East rival winning the WS (let's not even talk about John Farrell) I think this lands $3-5 K. If they lose (please!) I agree with the previous poster - maybe $1K.

I don't think its a significant ball in historical terms but if you're a Red Sox fan it would be a nice item.

To clarify, I suggest this ball is more significant than a single or foul ball from the post season for example.
