So I had interest in this Cobb when it was on ebay about 2 weeks ago. I questioned the flip as it was off white in the photo while the card's color looked normal. I noticed that this was the same number on the flip but it wasn't off white in your photo. Do you know the story on this? Thanks

Peter, I'm puzzled?

You've been after this card for a long time, and it's still in your wantlist on your signature line.

Are you trying to upgrade?

I'm puzzled too considering I worked out a trade for it a week and a half ago off ebay with a consignor I guess but turned away because of that flip. I was just wondering who I was working with. Now its reholdered in record time. Whats also off is the asking price difference between the forum and ebay. Sharp card but recent sales are all over the place. Not trying to cause waves just scratching my head on this one. Good luck with your sale.

No Jason, you reneged on him, truth be told, for reasons (or so you said) having nothing to do with the flip. Something to do with repairing a car. And if you go denying it, I have the emails to prove it. As to the rest of it, yeah when I decided to sell the card myself I figured I would reholder it in case the flip was an issue for anyone, so what's the problem? And yeah, people often put a higher BIN in a best offer situation to leave room to negotiate, and beyond that, a sale here would not involve fees. Any other comments on my attempt to sell a card here? Hopefully not and you will just go away.

Tony, just moving in another direction for now, at some point yeah I would probably like to get one in a little higher grade. Thanks for pointing out the signature line I have updated that.

Care to explain what happened about reneging on this one?

BTW, I have gotten cards reholdered many times because the holder or flip was damaged in some way. It kind of sucks to have a relatively expensive card in a holder that doesn't look good. I don't blame Peter for getting it done. Smart move.....

Leon, just in case our friend is inclined to tell more lies, here is what happened.

Jason initiated contact with my friend who had posted the card on ebay for me. He asked about the flip, and my friend told him he would send him an SGC voucher that would cover the cost of reholdering (I had a voucher from a prior transaction). Jason thought that was "awesome." They then worked out a deal where Jason agreed to trade four cards for the Cobb, and promised to send them Fed Ex. A couple of days later, Jason reneged, saying he had bought a car he might have to restore, and since he could never part with the Cobb once he owned it, he wanted to keep his existing cards in case he needed to sell them to raise money.

Like I said I am not trying to cause waves but I guess i did and I apologize for that. Before knowing that this was the same Cobb I PM ed with a trade request but I did some searching I realized it was the same card but with a different flip. I was thinking that was fast for reholdering considering my experiences. Truth be told I did buy a car to restore which is a 1961 Nash Metropolitan which was ultimately the final decision to "reneg" and now i have different plans for it. I have no reason to lie but there were concerns and since I had some involvement with it then I felt I had to ask. 2 sellers 2 flips and 2 ebay prices and 1 forum price, all different, sorry I had to ask the question. Sorry it got to this level but I think in this market there is always room for concern.

Yes, there is always concern with people who renege on deals, I agree. And you were perfectly happy to get the voucher to pay for the new flip, that flip had nothing to do with your backing out, so you lied about it when you said above: "I worked out a trade for it a week and a half ago off ebay with a consignor I guess but turned away because of that flip."

From Jason's email: "Awesome, I'm glad we can do a deal! I will send them Fed Ex and give you tracking info as soon as I get it. I will take you up on your SGC voucher offer as a new holder would top it off." Yeah, Jason, you sure backed out of the deal because of that flip.

If you had any concerns, all you had to do was PM me, not insinuate on my sale thread that there was an issue when there is none at all. And now you have exposed yourself as a renegger and a liar. So it goes.

Your PM expressed no concerns, it merely expressed your interest in trading your Magie. Knowing you had renegged on a prior deal, I left well enough alone.

Did I renege on you or the other guy? Confusing on who I was working with you considering that you are now selling it eBay....I thought I had a better chance of a trade this time since it has been discounted $1250 from the first listing or was it the second or was it the forum listing? Who knows....who cares. The card is tainted with too many questions.

No, YOU are attempting to taint the card to cover up your own web of lies and reneging, and there are rules against doing so.

You reneged on the other guy, who was authorized by me to sell it at that point. Have you ever heard of a consignment? I think maybe an entrance exam before being permitted membership on 54 might be in order, Leon.

So why would you consign if you are now selling it yourself? Maybe we should have a common sesne exam for being permitted on the forum, Leon?

The card isn't tainted. It has a new holder and flip (with the same numbers). The only thing tainted seems to be someone reneging on a card AND SOON after that expressing some sort of interest in it again. If someone reneges on a card I have no idea why that same person would then be interested in it again, almost immediately thereafter? Great card though and whomever ends up with it will have a stellar CJ Cobb.

Clearly I stated that I bought a car to restore and my focus was on that. Now things have changed and my focus changed. You can't tell me this doesn't happen....can you? The flip bothered me at first but the other seller said he offered to fix it with a reholder coupon which I was fine with but then the car issue came through and I backed out. So I see a CJ Cobb on the forum so I expressed interest. Then I noticed someone else is selling it with a different flip so I expressed concern just like everyone else on this forum does. Now I am getting chastised for it. Thanks Leon for putting it on me....class act. I never name called anyone i just asked a simple question. Thanks

Correction. You reneged on a deal, you lied about it both to my friend and here, and you accused my card of being tainted. You are the problem, not Leon.

How did I lie? I have other hobbies besides dealing with idiots like yourself. Now I will name call. Now I am glad a deal wasn't made. Your card is questionable along with your sale. First you tell me to PM you then you said you purposely won't answer me. I am done with this shit because of morons like yourself. Good luck in life...you need it. It seems very obvious to me and probably others as well that Peter did nothing wrong, and there is absolutely nothing questionable about his card. However, Jason reneged on the deal and is trying to weasel his way out of it.

Three thoughts:

1) What is the big deal about a brownish flip? I get them all the time. Here's how I handle it: I send them into SGC and for no fee they give me a white flip, often times with a 24 hour turnaround. End of story.

2) What is the big deal that Peter had one of the most honest ebay sellers -- whose business is selling cards consigned to him -- sell a card for him on ebay?

3) Peter said 'renegger.'

The card is good and the seller is 100% honest and trustworthy person. Have done a couple of purchases/sales and it was smooth as silk.
Good luck in the sale Peter

Beautiful card wherever it ends up.

Also if an entrance exam is instituted make sure I am grandfathered in, this thread has my head spinning.
