Dan's "toughest card on your want list" thread in tribute to Bruce got me thinking about Zeenuts.
I'm curious what cards are "white whales" for other Z collectors. 1911 Bohen will be on a lot of want lists. '19 Arbuckle as well (it is near the top of my want list for sure). I also know 1911 Fullerton will be involved (Hi Steve). I have always wanted '18 O'Doul, but have never seen one available for sale or trade. The remaining 32 cards on my Seattle want list have almost reached white whale status as well (mostly '21s and '26s, a few '20s, along with '23 Eldred and Plummer, '29 Taylor, '33-36 Page, and '37-38 Gabrielson and Muller). Post some of your favorite/toughest Zs. Below are a few of mine. Andrew callmefugazi@yahoo.com www.slackjobcards.com/ajbb |

It took me quite a few years to finally get a '20 with coupon. For me they were the toughest, maybe my white whale, by far. I saw at least 2-3 of each other year during the time searching. I think there was 1 of the '20s I had seen, in a big lot that I didn't want to go for. There was nothing else I wanted and it was just too big of a lot for that one piece.

Leon: In your Z w/coupon thread there were seven 1918s w/coupon. 1915s w/coupon are out there. 1920s w/coupon sure appear to be tougher to locate than 1918s and 1915s, which is interesting given that 1918s and 1915s w/out coupon generally are quite a bit more difficult to locate than 1920s.
Wonka: Awesome Thorpe. I am assuming there is loss/writing on the reverse? Great card. Andrew |

Not sure if this one is hard to find with regard to scarcity for Zeenuts, but it is difficult to find almost any Zeenut if you are looking for a specific player..
Here is Rube Geyer on his 1914 Zeenut card. He played for Oakland in 1914. Next to it is Geyer's T213-2 Coupon card pictured with St. Louis, whom he played for 1913. This leads me to believe that T213-2 Coupons were issued between 1913-1916. Most checklists that I have seen state 1914-1916. ![]() ![]() |

One of the toughest of the 1911 Zeenuts...
here is one of the tougher "large version" 1911 Zeenuts... ![]() For whatever reason Jimmie Reese's first card from 1925 is especially tough to find...

Here are two of my favorites:
Eric Erickson: The only Swedish-born major league baseball player to have a baseball card. Smead Jolley (Quote from BaseballReference.com): Smead Jolley was one of the greatest hitters ever to play baseball and was one of the worst outfielders ever to put on a glove. |

The 1918s are pretty much the toughest on average to find. I saw a few at the National but far and away the lowest #s as compared to others I spotted. A 1918 O'Doul is definitely high on my want list. All of the HOFers and popular MLBers are desirable and pricey, but not necessarily rare. There are some players popular with ethnic collectors who will be expensive. I was sitting in on a discussion at dinner one evening with TBob and some other Zeenut gurus; they'd have the real insights into the rarities in the sets. I just like the pre-rookies...

The only 1911 Zeenut Bohen I have ever seen (in person or in a picture) is the "marionette" Bohen which was created when someone cut the figure from a card, trimming it along the player's picture, and slapped it on a piece of cardboard.
