just lucked into a TON of T206 and T205 cards. they were one of my fathers best friends great grandfathers.
they are/were all pasted into a book. removing them is quite easy, the only problem is some of them have pretty bad damage/paper loss on the backs. this is not from me removing them, but when the owner of the book first started, he pasted them into the book and at some point decided to rip them all out and re paste them organizing them by team. I will post scans here when I get around to scanning everything which will be quite a while. for now, I have 2 scans, fronts and backs, of hall of famers but with some paper loss on the back. I am new to these cards so I do not really know what their value would be considering the paper loss. the fronts on most of them are pretty good, as you can see, if that counts for anything. any opinions would be greatly appreciated! the fronts - http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...s6dfc2516.jpeg the backs - http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...s8f12ec02.jpeg |

Thanks for the input!
I have a very large number of common or non HOF T206 with similar back paper loss to the ones above. I assume they are for the most part common and nothing out of the ordinary. What can I expect something like those to fetch? |

No problem, I'm referring to the T206 specifically, the T205's I'm not too sure about since I don't collect them, but the T205 HOF'ers are probably worth less.

With the extent of the paper loss, $15 is likely the high end for any commons.

The qutoes were generous for the amount of loss. I would guess more like $5-10 each for commons and for the commons HOFers maybe $25-50 each. THe Young, Matty, Johnsons, T205 Joss may go $100-200 maybe. IMHO. I cannot see them much more. Nice fronts will help get those prices I quoted. If they were creased up expect less. I have not sold many T206s in the last 2-3 years but sold thousands in the past from P-EXMT.

It all depends on how you sell them. I have a feeling you could get the most out of selling them as a lot in a good quality auction.

here is a scan of 20 with good backs.
I believe they are all "common". What can I expect a "common" with no paper loss on the back to fetch? Are their rare or odd ones I should be looking for? Also, what is the best way to decide on whether or not to grade a card? I have no idea what grades any of these would bring so in turn have no idea which would be worth it and which not. Are there any good indicators to look for? Thanks again for all the great comments and opinions! http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...s7288cb00.jpeg -- FRONT http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...s714266a7.jpeg -- BACK |

What I have seen a lot of, good sellers do, is put the card up on either ebay or even in this forum auction thread, and start the bidding at .99, the card will sell for what its worth and with the low starting price you will get a ton of guys bidding.
Common card in poor shape (depends how poor of course) - $15 Common card in good shape - $25-$35 HOF and short prints are more and rare backs are more as well that is if you have the seldom seen ones, Blank, Drum, hindu, broadleaf. All buyers judge their cards different, some hate paper loss, while others will deal with it if its a good price. Some buyers will never buy a trimmed card no matter what the price while again others would buy one if the price is right. Starting an auction at .99 will always give you fair market value (what someone is willing to pay for your cards)and get you a lot if traffic, based on if there is a demand. And IMO there is a demand for T250 cards. I for one would deff be interested in some, if you put them up for auction. Good Luck

Unfortunately, a large number did have paper loss. My guess is the original owner decided to rip everything out and sort it by team, and then when he acquired new cards he would just glue them in on the team specific page, which I would guess are the ones that have no paper loss. There are a load of other tobacco cards as well. Boxing, Billiards Players, Track and Field stuff, even a card with Buffalo Bill on it and one of Annie Oakley. Pretty cool stuff! |

have scanned all the common T205s. I think 1 or 2 HOF may have slipped in. not looking forward to scanning the T206s as there is at least twice as many.

unfortunately only about 40 of the common T206 had pretty good backs.
is there much worthy of being graded here or is it not worth it? T205's & T206's:
Get a subscription to VCP like most of us. Do some research on pricing and such. Grading is gonna tell you nothing more than the cards with paper loss are still a 1 and will only sell for a bit over that maybe to the right limited group. The rest of the commons without paper loss are gonna sell for near what graded ones are selling for so save the money and sell them raw. Allen and Ginter: Follow first list of instructions above and if they are really nice then grade them. Jmo and will vary person to person
