According to the ACC D38 refers to Good Neighbor cards (24) from Bell Bakeries. I don't know why Burdick didn't classify the sets of Bell Baking cards individually, as he did the following number (D39-x) with Gordon Bread cards, but maybe he hadn't seen other series from Bell yet when the catalog was done? I had a Gordon Bread D39-8 already but guess I can cross off one I didn't know I needed

I don't know the year of these cards, but the catcher looks like Mickey Cochrane. The runner looks like it might be a Cardinals runner, maybe supposed to be a scene from the 1934 World Series.
