Truly rare cards with low values?

Wondering if there are any type cards that would be considered truly rare and dont show up everyday but for one reason or another collectors dont like so they dont hold a ton of value. Thanks.

There are some canadian issues that aren't seen very often, yet when they come up they are pretty cheap.....I think maybe cause they aren't a u. s. issue? Or how about some of those Cuban cards and Japanese ones? I don't know, good question for Leon! Dave ps also regional issues.

Riddle me this: How come those "cheap" Canadian issues are only "cheap" when I'm selling them and expensive when I'm a buyer?

How about this 1 of 1 from an auction year ago, that not much interest in. I like it, but guess not an interersting card. Maybe the only one that exists but I guess ugly or something.

The card seems good to me and I would be happy to have it. 1 / 1 Satisfaction in knowing you have it and enjoy it.

1928 Star Player Candy cards and 1923 Curtis Ireland Candy cards. As far as the pop charts go, both sets seem to have fewer than 10 cards known for each player (some fewer than 5) yet commons seem to sell for between $150 to $200 dollars and even some of the Hall of Fame players sell for less than $1,000 dollars each.

I am still surprised how cheap most non Ruth, Cobb, Mathewson postcards from the early 20th century are. I know postcards aren't everyone's thing, but many Hall of Famers are downright cheap for 100-year-old pieces with less than 10 known copies.

I agree with some of the aforementioned...the curtis irelands...some early 20's issues like e122...e220...e106...ab 350 no frames...caramel freaks...d310/311, t330, canadian goudeys, fro joy ruths, cards cut from advertising pieces...

Yes, as someone who collects some of the most obscure issues in the hobby I can attest to the fact that rarity doesn't equal value. The demand side of the equation is much more important in determining value. I have a ton of cards I could show that would fit the bill. Here is a 1946 Wagner card that I have probably seen 2 of, including this one. The value is $300-$500 on any given day.

Random/Trivial observation, Leon- at first glance on that Wagner card looks like the same amount of seasons on the left as there is on the right...count them up: 11 on left, 10 on right. optical illusion, they way the spaced the right side to make the columns even. i guess being a designer, my eye goes to stuff like that.

As a collector these were the first thing that popped in my mind when I read your thread. These no doubt are scarce, and since they are hand-cut are not as popular as type 1 E107's. Very scarce, but don't have the value as the type 1's.

There's some really obscure variations that don't seem to get much love over the more common variations. Especially with the strip cards...Like the 1920 w519 Numbered Type 2's...
