Found this great and unique ball on Ebay. Title & description omitted the # 1 signature on there: HOFer Miller Huggins, and Col. Ruppert.
Granted of all the sigs on the ball, the M.J. Huggins is probably the most faint, but it's there, he had this ball in his hands and signed it, along with an amazing group of players. The seller didn't really know what they had, my gain ; ) The ball was made out to an unknown person and signed from Jack Hendricks, who also dated the ball (A big thank you to him for that), March 31st, 1927. So he by doing that dates the ball to the '27 Yankees. Must have been a spring training game or something. The names on the ball are an amazingly unique group: REDS: Jack Hendricks Mgr. Reds HOFer George "High Pockets" Kelly Ethan Allen - after baseball invented the game All-Star Baseball, and coached George H.W. Bush at Yale Adolfo Luque - The Pride of Havana - played in 1919 World Series vs. Black Sox Babe Pinelli -wrong Babe, but what can you do, but just learned from Greg below that this Babe was the home plate ump for Don Larsen's perfect game Bubbles Hargrave - 1926 NL Batting Champ (The 1st catcher to lead the NL in batting average) Pete Donohue Carl Mays (beaned/killed Ray Chapman in 1920) Red Lucas Wally Pipp (famous for obvious reasons, right Lou?) YANKEES: HOFer Waite Hoyt Bob Meusel - batted 5th behind Gehrig and Ruth, member of Murderers Row 1920-1930 - led AL in HR's 1925 (more than Ruth!!!) 2013 HOF Inductee Jacob Ruppert (Owner of the Yankees - Got Ruth, then got rid of Ruth) HOFer M.J. "Miller" Huggins (Died in 1929 at age 51) HOFer Casey Stengel - no connection to these teams and signed in a different pen, so I'm sure his auto was obtained later then the 1927 date on the ball But "5" HOFers!!!!!! and such a unique collection of personalities, each with a story.
