I just picked up this baseball but after opening it, I think I may have paid too much. Curious what you guys think the value of a ball in this shape would be?
It has Harris and also a light Charlie Gehringer and several others. The ball seems to have two small cuts in the leather by reach logo, not sure what the redish stuff is(dirt, Tobacco???). Looked in other auction houses, but cant find any 1929 tiger balls. Thanks |

.
Very nice old Detroit team signed baseball. To me the reddish discoloration looks like rust. Maybe stored in an old toolbox, or other container containing steel rods or spikes. I count approximately 20 signatures. In this condition, I myself would have probably paid $250-$350 for it. BUT . . . your ball does contain a very light Harry Heilmann signature, located right above the Jimmie Duggan stamped signature on the south panel. Add in the Bob Fothergill signature on the east panel and (IMHO) the value of this ball might rise to $600-$750. With bolder signatures and turning back the clock 5-8 years ago, this might have been a $1200-$1500 signed baseball. Regardless, your sharing of this ball has made my day. My thanks.
