Curious in reading about the death of Lavonne Paire-Davis and also reading about the girls league baseball back in the 40's/50's. what type of prices do their memorabilia bring. Did they have their own endorsed bats or use index bats.

Interesting question regarding what bats they used. Perhaps photos can tell the tale. I have not seen a professional model bat made for a female player.

Being from Rockford, Illinois--I collect Rockford Peaches items....I have never seen a bat specifically made for the womens professional league. The baseball used went through a series of changes over the years from my understanding starting with a softball the first couple of seasons and then progressing to a larger hardball near the end. Fast pitch underhand I think in the beginning moving to sidearm and then overhand. I have a game used ball from the 1951 season. It is exactly like a game used mens ball except a little larger. The dimensions are such that it will not fit in a normal/size ball cube so I had to purchase a softball one instead to house it in. It is a team-signed ball from a Michigan team but what it also a bonus is that Dave Bancroft also signed it....as he was the general manager that particular season.

Interesting. Thank you. Who manufactured the women's league baseballs?

Baseball was made by J deBeer and Son Double Header and also has league stamping as well as commissioner at that time.

Had this one before:

checked SI, Have you had any contact with Cartha Doyle? Rockford Peach for one season? I believe she is still alive. My mother-in-law told my wife of how she got her first name (Cartha), She was named after a close childhood friend to my mother-in-law who lived in Knoxville, named Cartha. So I ran google check and found only one from Knoxville. Born 1929, {Mother-in law born 1932.) The Cartha found was above Cartha Doyle, (Childress). I have attempted to contact Ms Doyle only recently, through her daughter, but no response. If you have any contact number, could you please send a PM to me. I don't believe my mother in law knew she was a ballplayer and I don't believe Ms. Doyle knows has a name sake out there. I thought it would be cool for her to know and to confirm she was the friend.
